On uniformly continuous functions for some profinite topologies

چکیده
Given a variety of finite monoids V, a subset of a monoid is a V-subset if its syntactic monoid belongs to V. A function between two monoids is V-preserving if it preservesV-subsets under preimages and it is hereditary V-preserving if it is W-preserving for every subvariety W of V. The aim of this paper is to study hereditary V-preserving functions when V is one of the following varieties of finite monoids: groups, p-groups, aperiodic monoids, commutative monoids and all monoids.

On the dual of certain locally convex function spaces
In this paper, we first introduce some function spaces, with certain locally convex topologies, closely related to the space of real-valued continuous functions on $X$, where $X$ is a $C$-distinguished topological space. Then, we show that their dual spaces can be identified in a natural way with certain spaces of Radon measures.
متن کاملA noncommutative extension of Mahler's theorem on interpolation series
In this paper, we prove an extension of Mahler’s theorem on interpolation series, a celebrated result of p-adic analysis. Mahler’s original result states that a function from N to Z is uniformly continuous for the p-adic metric dp if and only if it can be uniformly approximated by polynomial functions. We prove the same result for functions from a free monoid A∗ to Z, where dp is replaced by th...
متن کاملContinuous Cohomology of Permutation Groups on Profinite Modules
We investigate the continuous cohomology of infinite permutation groups on modules whose topology is profinite. To obtain acyclics we expand the class of modules to include those which are directed unions of their profinite submodules. As an application we give a criterion which implies finiteness of the continuous cohomology groups on finitely generated profinite modules for some familiar perm...
متن کاملProfinite semigroups
We present a survey of results on profinite semigroups and their link with symbolic dynamics. We develop a series of results, mostly due to Almeida and Costa and we also include some original results on the Schützenberger groups associated to a uniformly recurrent set.
متن کاملThe Geometry of Profinite Graphs with Applications to Free Groups and Finite Monoids
We initiate the study of the class of profinite graphs Γ defined by the following geometric property: for any two vertices v and w of Γ, there is a (unique) smallest connected profinite subgraph of Γ containing them; such graphs are called tree-like. Profinite trees in the sense of Gildenhuys and Ribes are tree-like, but the converse is not true. A profinite group is then said to be dendral if ...
